Dear Parents and Guardians of our Middle School Students (incoming 6-8 graders): We hope this letter finds you and your family well! As educators who are deeply committed to supporting the growth and development of our students, we are excited to invite you to join our second year of the Middle School Parent Book Club!
Introducing Our Parent Book Club!
This Parent Book Club is specifically designed for families of middle school students (incoming grades 6-8). This collaborative effort brings together the Emerson Junior-Senior High School and Villano School communities, led by myself and Principal Jessica Espinoza from Villano School.
Our Purpose
The books we've selected focus on one of the most important topics we all share: how schools and families can work together to raise successful, resilient, happy, and kind children. Middle school is a pivotal time in children's lives, filled with unique challenges and opportunities. By reading and discussing these carefully chosen books together, we can strengthen our partnership and share insights that will help us all better support our students during these formative years.
What to Expect:
Three Books Per Year: We will read one book every three months, making this commitment manageable while still meaningful.
Evening Discussions: Three times per year, we will gather in the evening at the Emerson Junior-Senior High School Media Center for thoughtful discussions about our readings.
Community Building: These meetings will provide opportunities to connect with other parents, share experiences, and learn from one another while exploring research-based approaches to supporting middle schoolers.

We will be in touch with details about our first book selection and meeting dates once we have an idea of participation levels. Please be reminded that for this year, this book club will be open to parents and guardians of incoming 6-8 grade students only.
